 Wining Around PA’s Susquehanna Valley, 1-2 Day, Lewisburg/Sunbury

 A barrel of fun

  Learn how to make a champagne cocktail and indulge in one yourself during a delicious meal at one of our landmark local restaurants.         

n  Choose from browsing in historic downtown Lewisburg named one of "America's best small-towns" filled with galleries and shoppes, a visit to a home and garden décor shop with a demo on how to create a living centerpiece or grapevine topiary, bargaining with Penn Dutch vendors at a true Farmers' Market (Wednesdays).

n  Plus visit two wineries for tour & tasting.   

n  If traveling in the fall, the chance to include a private grape stomping adventure! Climb in a wooden vat just like Lucy & Ethel and even dress up like them if you dare! Be sure to bring your cameras for this great opportunity!

        NEW Trick or Treat Wine Tour

This tour pairs wine tastings with traditional Halloween candy at wineries in the Central Susquehanna Valley. On a day trip you can add in one or two additional activities such as:

n Tour of an artisan candle shop.

n Browsing a greenhouse for fall plants and pumpkins.

n   Touring a chocolate factory with a treat for everyone.

Plus enjoy delicious dining such as brunch in a historic restaurant with a champagne cocktail demo or a meal at a winery.

From Farm to Fork, 1-2 Days
Buy fresh, buy local.

Celebrate “green cuisine!” Try a “taste of place” tour focusing on our local landscape and farmers whose efforts bring fresh food to our tables. Tour one or two family farms such as a 112-acre farm specializing in sheep, pigs and chickens and a 39-acre produce farm where the owners grow heritage crops as well as contemporary favorites, with the opportunity to talk with the farmers about their sustainable agricultural practices. Collect eggs or felt wool from locally grown and sheared sheep, visit a Maze Park (see our A-Mazing Fun Tour, below), enjoy a seasonal meal featuring our local bounty, and perhaps visit a local farmers market.

n     Our Barnyards to Vineyards and the Artisans In Between overnight trip includes a tour and tasting at two wineries plus gourmet meal overlooking a vineyard, farm tours as described above, farmers market plus artisan candlecrafter, artisan soap maker and more! Evening options include flashlight safari in a corn maize, line dancing or musical performer and if you dare we can include hog mud wrestling as a fun and dirty adventure. This makes a great fundraiser with lots of laughs for a good cause!

Just Desserts, 1 Day, Lewisburg Area

 Eat dessert all day long!

It's not hard to figure out what this tour is all about!

n     Visit a gourmet restaurant for chef demo and dessert. 

n     Pair wines with chocolate fondue treats during a tour and tasting at a local winery

n    Browse a Farmers Market where everyone will receive a freshly baked dessert item from a Penn Dutch vendor to take home. 

n     Visit an artisan candlemaker for a workshop tour, demo and browsing among candles with scents including Banana Split, Wild Berries & Cream, Applesauce Cake, Pumpkin Pie or Creme Brule! If you wish we can include a souvenir candle in a "dessert" scent as a special gift. 

n     Choose to include lunch at the gourmet restaurant or on own at the Farmers Market. 

*   Available Wednesdays to visit the Farmers Market. (Variations for other days of the week available.)


 And The Secret Ingredient Is..., 1 Day, Lewisburg

 Fresh local ingredients combined with a custom menu.

The Victoria House Restaurant prides itself in combining fresh local ingredients with culinary expertise to create sensational seasonal meals that have one ingredient in multiple courses. Choose from: 

n Summer menu with blueberries as the special ingredient. 

n Fall menu with apples, pumpkins or squash.

n December menu with mint, or a Valentine's menu with chocolate.

Or tell us what you'd like the ingredient to be and we'll ask the chef to create a custom menu! We'll add in other local sites to compliment the theme for a delicious day.

Elite Treats Millionaires Row, 1 Day, Williamsport

 We’ll treat you like a millionaire!

Victorian Guide

n     Our Victorian-attired guide will lead you along Millionaires' Row where the 19th-century lumber barons built their mansions and churches. You'll visit the Romanesque-style Annunciation Catholic Church plus Queen Anne-style Rowley House Mansion to enjoy appetizers in the mansion's elegant dining room which was recently featured in "Victorian Homes" magazine for its wonderful stained glass and woodworking.

n    Next stop, Herdic House, built as an Italianate mansion by Peter Herdic who was the founder of Millionaires'  Row. Enjoy a delicious gourmet entree plus explore the site that includes a mahogany staircase curving three floors to a cupola.

n     End with a cruise aboard the Hiawatha Riverboat, a replica of the vessel that graced the Susquehanna in the 1800's, and a selection of desserts including berry tarts, lemon bars and petit fors plus Victorian shrubs, a delicious fruit spritzer.

Chocolate! Chocolate! Chocolate!, 1 Day, Williamsport
Chef demo and riverboat cruise.  

We offer a hands-on class lead by one of the chefs at a Williamsport culinary arts school where you can also dine in the teaching restaurant and peek into the teaching kitchen! 

n     Enjoy a chef demo class with a couple of volunteers helping create delicious chocolate desserts.   

n     For a natural pairing we will also include a Susquehanna River cruise with chocolate trufflettes and/or chocolate martinis for everyone. 

Rolling in the Dough!, 1 Day, Williamsport
An enriching experience! 

Learn how to make gourmet grilled pizza during a chef-demo class at a culinary shoppe and enjoy hearty samples for lunch during this tour in Williamsport. 

n     Get some "dough" yourself in the form of a "million dollar bill" during a Millionaires' Row Tour including visit to two grand historic buildings.  

n     End at a winery where you’ll learn how yeast turns juice into wine.

*   Maximum group size for pizza class is 40.


 

 Wellsboro Backward Luncheon, 1 Day, Wellsboro

 It runs “backward” just like the nearby Tioga River!

Eat_Dessert_First

n  Start with tour and dessert at Highland Chocolates where you’ll see chocolates hand made. As you tour the workshop enjoy a dessert of strawberries dipped in chocolate, truffles and/or other specialty treat.

n  Visit the PA Grand Canyon Overlook for wonderful views of the upper gorge.

n  Enjoy entrée in a local restaurant such as the Penn Wells Restaurant, Antlers Inn or Log Cabin Inn.

n  Finish the day with a scenic train excursion including butlered appetizers in a private dining car!

*   Available Tuesdays & Wednesdays, late May through September, plus Thursdays in October. Note Saturday variations of this tour are available with a visit to Patterson Farms in Sabinsville for tour of this maple production site and maple sampler dessert to replace Highland Chocolates.

 Maple and chocolate goodies!

Canyon Confections, 1 Day, Wellsboro/Sabinsville

n  Visit Patterson Farms for tour of the maple production area and a deluxe sit-down sampling featuring a variety of maple creams and syrups with fresh fruit, pancakes and ham.

n  Tour Highland Chocolates in Wellsboro and take home locally made goodies from this artisan chocolate factory.

n  Visit the PA Grand Canyon Overlook for great mountain views.

Recipe Roulette, 1 Day, Lewisburg Area

Try to guess the recipe!

A fun day of exploring some of our favorite sites while collecting ingredients, learning interesting tidbits, and trying to guess what they make along the way. At the end of the day you'll get the recipe and a sample! 

n  Visit a Victorian Mansion for a tour plus your first ingredient a can of condensed milk. 

n  Browse Penn Dutch or Farmers Market to pick up a freshly baked ingredient.

n  Explore a shop filled with home and garden items and receive raisins as you next ingredient.

n Enjoy a tour and tasting at a local winery where you'll receive a split of wine. 

*    Available Monday through Saturday, year round.


Eat Your Way Through PA, Multi-day Central PA Travel Corridor from NY Border to MD Border

Treats from our mountains and valleys.

Enjoy a tasting spree through PA. You decide how much of the state you want your taste buds to explore, then we'll design the package to meet your needs. Here are some of the options:

n  In the northern tier consider visits to PA's largest maple sugaring farm for tour and perhaps a delxe sit-down tasting with ham, pancakes and plenty of maple toppings, an apiary featured on "Good Morning America" where you'll learn about bee-hive colonies and honey production, and  covered wagon rides. Also available is our Wellsboro Backwards Luncheon starting at an artisan chocolate factory for a tour and dessert, and ending with a train ride for great scenery and butlered appetizers.

n  In central PA visit a winery or two, enjoy a chef demo at a local restaurant or a cooking class demo at a culinary arts school where you can also dine, tour a candy factory (available Sept. through May) and treat yourself to Penn Dutch specialties as part of a meal or to take home during a visit to a weekly Farmers Market or a Penn Dutch dry goods store. We can add in our Recipe Roulette Tour, for a bit of mystery!

n  Offerings in south-central PA include tours of a potato chip factory, candy factory and winery plus the opportunity to enjoy another backwards luncheon, our Do The Twist Tour, which focuses on foods from the 50's and includes a twist dance contest and a hoola hoop competition.
