The new premier elk watching and education center near Benezette is truly a site not to be missed! This beautiful “green” building, situated on 245 acres, features grand architecture,indoor and outdoor elk viewing areas, multimedia theatre, and interpretive exhibits to immerse visitors in the sights, sounds and smells of the natural world of the elk and native wildlife. We’ll plan your visit for dusk for the best opportunity to view elk and may also include a dinner picnic with a cowboy poet or storyteller! Additionally the tour will include:
n Tour the Appalachian Arts Studio to see a chainsaw carving come to life.
n Visit with PA’s most famous weather forecaster, Punxsutawney Phil, plus try out to be a TV weather personality by standing in front of a green screen and reading from a script while seeing what you look like on TV at the Weather Discovery Center. Prizes will be awarded for the best performances!
n Additional options include tour of Straub’s Brewery which produces Groundhog Brew and chance to enjoy its “everlasting tap”, winery, museum of vintage automobiles and trophy game, the Jimmy Stewart Museum in Indiana where this great actor’s trademark grey cowboy hat is on display from his days as a wild west movie star.

For an extended “wild life” experience taking in more of PA we can tour State College and Penn State University which is home to the famous Nittany Lions and a wonderful All-Sports Museum as well as visit Penn’s Cave, America’s only all-water cavern which can be toured by boat plus wildlife park toured by bus.
