 Tricks, Treats & Tales in the Susquehanna Valley, 1- 2 Days, Lewisburg Area

 Great October fun!

n  Enjoy beautiful fall foliage as our costumed step-on guide leads the way for two days of fun including a Trick-or- Treat Goodie Bag Tour. Everyone will receive empty trick-or-treat bags that we'll fill with gifts as we visit local sites such as Irvin's Tinware for a factory tour and hand-punched ornament, Colonial Candlecrafters for a behind-the-scenes tour and a demo plus jelly jar candle, a local winery for a tasting and split of wine, and farm and garden specialty shop for pumpkins.

n  As a special treat, Slifer House Victorian Mansion will be hosting an evening tour with Victorian Tales presented by costumed interpreters who bring to life the literature of the era in the setting in which it was created! There's no better time to enjoy tales of Edgar Allen Poe and the like than at Halloween!

n    Tours will be custom designed to meet client's needs and selected sites.

Shade Mountain Winery

A combination of two of our most popular tours, this tour includes gifts to fill goodie bags plus great food to fill everyone's stomachs!

n During the Goodie Bag part of the tour, you'll visit Shade Mountain Winery for tour, tasting and 375 ml split of wine, Colonial Candlecrafters for tour and jelly jar candy, Country Farm & Home for a special garden gift or holiday ornament during the holiday season, and/or a Penn Dutch dry goods store for Whoopie Pies!

n The Progressive Luncheon part of the tour includes Victorian-inspired appetizers at Slifer House Museum where you'll also enjoy a tour of this 1860's landmark, entree aboard a stationary railcar at Front Street Station with our own heritage performer bringing to lifer music from the 19th-century, then chef demo and Banana Fosters Flambé at Victoria House Restaurant, housed in a beautiful Queen Anne Victorian home.

Lumber Jack

Learn about the people that made this area the lumber capitol of the world in the 1800’s, from the mountain “ridgerunners” who timbered the forests to the valley “flatlanders” including mill workers and millionaire lumber barons.

n Enjoy views of the PA Grand Canyon now lush again after being stripped of its timber in the mid-1800's, plus the adventure of covered wagon rides and/or a train excursion!

n Select from the Williamsport area activities including Susquehanna River cruise, Millionaires' Row tour with visits to one or more of the architectural masterpieces that made it famous, gourmet dining in a historic lumber mansion and/or at Le Jeune Chef where the chefs of tomorrow are being trained at the Pennsylvania College of Technology's culinary school, tour of the Taber Museum or Sones Farm Museum, and shopping a Katie's Country Store.

n Choose Lewisburg activities such as tour of the Packwood House Museum or Slifer House Victorian Mansion, wine tasting, gourmet dining and chef demos, Colonial Candlecraters' workshop and more.

 Homespun Fun Tour, Mount Pleasant Mills/Lewisburg 

 Country Treasures and treats!

n   Visit Irvin’s Tinware where you’ll see how artisans hand-make specialty lighting fixtures recreating the warmth of a bygone era and shop in the three-story gift shop.

n   Tour the Slifer House Victorian Mansion, an architectural treasure from the 1860’s.  

n  Browse among items for home and garden at a Country Farm & Home specialty shop where you’ll learn how to create a living wreath.                                 

n   Lunch will be at the Victoria House Restaurant where staff will demonstrate how to make the perfect champagne cocktail, then serve everyone a glass along with a delicious meal.

n   Overnight Option: Turn this into a great November/December overnight to get a jump on holiday shopping plus enjoy special holiday exhibits and displays including dozens of decorated holiday trees. Consider visiting in early December to have the added bonus of visiting our German Christkindl Market.

 Millionaires, Mansions & Monuments, 1-2 Days, Williamsport

 Puttin' on the Ritz!

n     Welcome on board our Victorian guide who will lead the way along Millionaires' Row, the tree-lined street of

      that the lumber barons once called home. and step inside two of their fabulous mansions. 

n     Dine in The Herdic House Restaurant, once the home of Peter Herdic, founder of Millionaires’ Row.

n     Choose to visit the Annunciation Church where millionaires worshiped or the Taber Museum featuring regional historic displays including art by Severin Roesen, who made his living along Millionaires’ Row and became a favorite of Jackie Onassis, as well as the Shempp Toy Train Collection.

n     See our Little League Monument honoring the sports start in Williamsport in 1939 plus a hand-carved totem pole paying tribute to Chief Walopalanee.

n     Enjoy a narrated cruise along the Susquehanna River aboard the Hiawatha Paddlewheeler, a replica of the riverboat that graced these waters in the 1800’s.

 A delicious multi-day tour full of food and fun!

n  Culinary highlights in Williamsport include a delicious visit to the Herdic House Restaurant known for its gourmet food created with the highest quality ingredients including local products, and wonderful Victorian architecture being housed in a Millionaires' Row Mansion. Dinner will include the restaurant's signature mousse cake dessert and optional entertainment by a heritage performer. Plus we'll peak into the teaching kitchen of Le Jeune Chef, the teaching restaurant of our local culinary arts school, and enjoy a meal prepared and served by students. Consider adding in a 2-hour chef demo/class at the school available mid-May through mid-August.

n  Enjoy our popular Wellsboro Backward Luncheon on Day 2 which includes dessert at an artisan chocolate factory,       entrée at a historic restaurant and appetizers during a scenic train ride. Plus we'll visit the PA Grand Canyon     Overlook for great  views. The day will end back in Williamsport with dinner on own or how about an evening riverboat       cruise with snacks?

Midweek tours have an option of a special holiday presentation to help you add a bit of  holiday flare to your home or learn about the symbolism and uses of lavender keeping with the purple theme.

n  Enjoy a tour and demo at Colonial Candlecrafters and perhaps a get a head start on holiday shopping.

n    Visit a German-inspired Christlkindl Market complete with artisan vendors holiday music, and delicious foods or enjoy a holiday theatre presentation or our own heritage entertainer bringing to life music from the region's 19th century heyday including holiday favorites.

n  Be treated like a Queen during a tour of Williamsport's Millionaires' Row including appetizers in one mansion and a gourmet meal in another!
