Baseball today & yesterday!

Williamsport is rich in baseball history as the home of Original Little League which started here in the 1930's by brothers seeking to provide wholesome fun for their children, the current headquarters of Little League International and home to the Little League World Series and Museum, plus site of Historic Bowman Field where the Williamsport Crosscutters currently play as Class B affiliates of the world-champion Philadelphia Phillies. 

n  Options include tour of both stadiums, visit to Little League Museum, visit to Original Little League field, Crosscutters home game plus other local sites. 

n  For a wonderful family getaway we can include a Susquehanna riverboat cruise plus Penn's Cave, America's only all-water cavern plus wildlife park, in Centre Hall. Or a tour of a Sheep Farm where you'll see how the animals are raised for their prized fibers!

Groundhog Getaway, 1-2 Days, Punxsutawney Area
Learn about PA's furry weather forecaster and "audition" to be one yourself!
Learn about the tradition of Groundhog Day, meet its star, Punxsutawney Phil, who annually predicts the arrival of spring, and visit Gobbler's Knob where the annual Groundhog Day festivities take place.

n  Plus learn about other means of predicting the weather including a variety of myths and traditions at the Weather Discovery Center where you will have the chance to "audition" to be a TV meteorologist. Stand in front of the "green screen", read from a script and point out weather hot spots while seeing what you look like to a viewing audience on a TV screen. The best forecasters take home a special treat! Try this as a fun mystery tour for your group any time of the year! Great as a family get-away as well.

n  A variety of overnight and multi-day options are available and can feature such activities as touring Straub Brewery which makes a Groundhog Brew, scenic driving tours in PA's Elk Country, chainsaw carving demos, wildlife tours at Penn's Cave which also features America's only all-water cavern, tours of Penn State Campus including the famous Nittany Lion Statue and more!

Eat dessert all day long! 

It's not hard to figure out what this tour is all about!

n     Visit a gourmet restaurant for chef demo and dessert. 

n     Pair wines with chocolate fondue treats during a tour and tasting at a local winery

n    Browse a Farmers Market where everyone will receive a freshly baked dessert item from a Penn Dutch vendor to take home. 

n     Visit an artisan candlemaker for a workshop tour, demo and browsing among candles with scents including Banana Split, Wild Berries & Cream, Applesauce Cake, Pumpkin Pie or Creme Brule! If you wish we can include a souvenir candle in a "dessert" scent as a special gift.

Art & Soul, 1-2 Days, Williamport Area
Highlighting the city's rich heritage.

n     The one-day version of this guided Williamsport tour highlights historic churches and mansions during a driving tour and visits the magnificent Victorian Romanesque Annunciation Church and the Holy Cross Orthodox Church, featuring a hand-painted mural and relics, plus drive by the largest portrait mural in the world.

n     Also featured is a behind-the-scenes kitchen peak and lunch at a culinary arts institute plus your choice of visits one or two of the following sites: the historic Community Arts Center now a state-of-the-art theatre, an artists’ complex plus shoe outlet for “soles” of a different sort, the Taber Museum displaying a Tiffany-stained glass church window and art by Severin Roesen, one of Jackie Onassis favorites.

Coffee Klatch Crawl, 1 Day, Lewisburg Area
Take time to smell the coffee!

n  Explore quaint Lewisburg starting with a cup of “Joe” at one of the town’s many coffee shops, then a 5-block guided stroll of the historic downtown area full of cafes, art galleries and boutiques, leading to the  Packwood House Museum featuring collectibles from the local area and around the world including Tiffany glass, Chippendale furniture, quilts and coverlets, and more.   

n  Time is included to continue exploring the downtown area on own for lunch with a walking tour map for everyone that highlights additional strolls along beautiful side streets and through Bucknell University.

n  You’ll also visit an area gourmet soap company to see how soap is made and everyone will take home a bar of espresso truffle soap plus a bag of “Bucknell Brigade” organic Free Trade Coffee which comes from a region in Nigaragua that university students visit each year as part of a service learning program.

Farm Tours and delicious local foods!

Celebrate “green cuisine!” Try a “taste of place” tour focusing on our local landscape and farmers whose effortsbring fresh food to our tables. Tour one or two family farms such as a 112-acre farm specializing in sheep, pigs and chickens and a 39-acre produce farm where the owners grow heritage crops as well as contemporary favorites, with the opportunity to talk with the farmers about their sustainable agricultural practices. Collect eggs or felt wool from locally grown and sheared sheep, visit a Maze Park (see our A-Mazing Fun Tour, below), enjoy a seasonal meal featuring our local bounty, and perhaps visit a local farmers market.

n     Our Barnyards to Vineyards and the Artisans In Between overnight trip includes a tour and tasting at two wineries plus gourmet meal overlooking a vineyard, farm tours as described above, farmers market plus artisan candlecrafter, artisan soap maker and more! Evening options include flashlight safari in a corn maize, line dancing or musical performer and if you dare we can include hog mud wrestling as a fun and dirty adventure. This makes a great fundraiser with lots of laughs for a good cause!

Victorian Guide

n     Our Victorian-attired guide will lead you along Millionaires' Row where the 19th-century lumber barons built their mansions and churches.You'll visit the Romanesque-style Annunciation Catholic Church plus Queen Anne-style Rowley House Mansion to enjoy appetizers in the mansion's elegant dining room which was recently featured in "Victorian Homes" magazine for its wonderful stained glass and woodworking.  

n     Next stop, Herdic House, built as an Italianate mansion by Peter Herdic who was the founder of Millionaires' Row. Enjoy a delicious gourmet entree plus explore the site that includes a mahogany staircase curving three floors to a cupola. 

n     End with a cruise aboard the Hiawatha Riverboat, a replica of the vessel that graced the Susquehanna in the 1800's, and a selection of desserts including berry tarts, lemon bars and petit fors plus Victorian shrubs, a delicious fruit spritzer.

We have expanded our chef demos, hands-on classes and culinary presentations options at a Williamsport culinary arts school where you can also dine in the teaching restaurant and peek into the teaching kitchen! Choose an option below and we’ll pair it with other area activities.  

n     You Scream, I Scream, We All Scream For Ice Cream offers everyone the chance to make “ice-cream-in-a-flash”, then participate in a version of an Iron Chef Competition where our chef shows how to make traditional ice cream, then teams flavor their own batch. After lunch we have a taste-off with an award certificate for the winning team! Mid-May through mid-Aug. 

n     Mangia Pasta features the history, styles and recipes for pasta and sauces with groups dividing into teams to make some themselves to take home. Lunch features the pastas and sauces learned during the class. Mid-May through mid-Aug.  

n     The Art of Food Garnishing includes a demo plus hands-on participation with a take-home instruction book and tools. Turn any meal into a piece of art with these tricks of the trade! Mid-May through mid-Aug.       

n     Taste, Taste, Taste Wine Classes are available on a variety of topics helping you explore wine varietals and regions. The best way to learn is to taste, taste, taste! Mid-May through fall.   

n     Chocolate! Chocolate! Chocolate! features a chef demo class with a couple of volunteers helping create delicious chocolate desserts. For a natural pairing we will also include a Susquehanna River cruise with chocolate trufflettes and/or chocolate martinis for everyone! Mid-May through mid-Aug.

n  Kohl's Christmas Tree Farm, where you'll learn how the trees are grown and wreaths are made, view a 300+ tree stand collection and browse!

n  Colonial Candlecrafters, a candle factory for a tour of the workshop and a candle-decorating demo plus browsing.

n  Learn how to make a bow then stuff a 24" x 15" bag with you choice of specialty bows from Berwick Ribbon & Bow Outlet's discount bins at no additional charge. Laugh out loud as a few members of your group participate in a gift wrapping contest wrapping the craziest items we can find! 

n  Look for Rudolph during a visit to a red deer farm where you'll enjoy wagon rides into the fields.

n  Tour Packwood House Museum where you'll enjoy a Quilts and Coverlets and receive a surprise pie-related special treat.

A fun day of exploring some of our favorite sites while collecting ingredients, learning interesting tidbits about them, and trying to guess what they make along the way. At the end of the day you'll get the recipe and a sample!

n Tour a Victorian mansion and receive a can of condensed milk which was invented in the Victorian era by Gail Borden.  

n Browse a Penn Dutch or Farmers Market to pick up a freshly baked ingredient.  

n Visit a shoppe filled with items for home and garden where you'll receive raisins as your gift.

n Enjoy a tour and tasting at a winery and receive a split of wine. The mystery will be revealed as group samples the recipe. 

Have you guessed the recipe? It's for delicious bread pudding with apple   wine sauce. A great mystery tour!
