}  Appalachian Arts Studio

} Bradford County Heritage Museum, Troy, PA—Visit this wonderful museum full of artifacts and displays reflecting over 200 years of agriculture, explore the Carriage House which is home to dozens of buggies, carriages and wagons, plus tour the Gregory Mitchell House & Inn, an 1822 inn which sheltered not only stagecoach travelers but also those traveling the Underground Railroad. Also on the grounds is a sugar house displaying early tree tapping equipment and syrup-making methods, plus an herb and dye garden wonderful to enjoy in the warmer months. Tours include flax spinning demo.

Hands-On Glass Studio, Corning, NY

}  Highland Chocolates, Wellsboro, PA—A delicious stop, this chocolate factory creates chocolates in many shapes and sizes specializing in chocolate covered pretzels and bark. Learn how the chocolate factory started, step into the factory area where you’ll smell the vats of chocolate melting and see how the candies are handmade, plus of course enjoy a taste and browsing in the gift shop.

John Williams European Bakery, Bradford, PA - This charming café and bakery offers freshly baked European pastries, delicious homemade cream and butter fudge, and specialty breads baked daily. Swedish Rye or Salt Rising Bread are two local favorites. Special classes with Master Pastry Chef Joe are available for groups of 20 who want to learn some of the tricks of the trade along side Joe right in his bakery kitchen!

Kinzua Glass-Bottom Skywalk, Mount Jewett, PA

}  Ole' Mountain Covered Wagon Rides, Wellsboro, PA—Covered wagon rides into the PA Grand Canyon’s upper gorge and along Pine Creek on what was once an Indian path offer a unique perspective into this beautiful natural wonder. Horses pull wagons equipped with rubber tires, shock absorbers and thick seat padding to make this a comfortable ride. April through October.

}  Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, Wellsboro Area—PA’s own natural wonder, 50 miles long and 1,000 feet deep, embraces 300,000 acres of state-owned forestland offering inspiring scenic vistas. 

}  Patterson Maple Farms, Sabinsville, PA—Learn how maple sap is harvested and then turned into delicious creams and syrups at Patterson’s, PA’s largest producer of maple products. This third-generation business boasts more than 20 “sugar bushes” (groupings of maple trees) and in 2006 had 55,000 taps in place for the spring collection season. Learn more about this traditional harvest considered to be the oldest industry in North America including the Indian legend about maple syrup being turned into sap, backwards of today’s goal!

}  Rockwell Museum of Western Art, Corning, NY—”The Best of the West in the East” is this museum’s theme brought to life through a wonderful collection of American Western and Native American Art. The museum is home to sculpture, paintings from such famous western artists as Frederic Remington and Charles Russell, and other art that capture the essence of the West, from mythic views of an untamed wilderness and destination for adventure for early pioneers to the home of our Native peoples.

Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion, Canandaigua, NY - Nestled in the Finger Lakes region, this historic park offers one of the few remaining estates with a Tudor mansion and formal public gardens in the United States. Built in 1998, Sonnenberg Gardens includes a 40-room mansion and 17 other estate structures offering visitors a glimpse of what life was like in the late 19th century for the very wealthy. The 50-acre estate boast nine formal gardens plus a wine center with tastings available and gift shop. Highlights include the Greenhouse Conservatory Complex, Japanese Garden, Sub-Rosa "secret" Garden, Rose Garden, Italian Garden, Pansy Garden, Moonlight Garden, Old Fashioned Garden, Rose Garden and Peacock House/Apiary.

Straub's Brewery, St. Marys, PA

}  Tioga Central Railroad, Wellsboro Junction, PA—This climate-controlled train offers excursions to Hammond Lake passing through a variety of natural environments including the Marsh Creek Watershed, Crooked Creek Woodlands, and Tioga-Hammond Wetlands. Enjoy great scenery and the chance to glimpse a variety of native animal species including deer, osprey and blue heron. Late May-October.

}  Zippo/Case Museum, Bradford, PA—Find a piece of Americana tucked into the PA woods when you visit this 15,000 square-foot attraction including museum and retail store. Interactive displays tell the story of two quintessential American products – Zippo lighters and Case knives.  Special exhibits include a WWII tribute, hundreds of rare products, and views of the Zippo Repair Clinic where Zippo technicians fulfill the production’s lifetime guarantee.  Zippo is celebrating their 75th anniversary in 2007 which makes it a great time to visit!

DINING & ENTERTAINMENT

}  Antlers Inn, Ansonia—Begun as a Prohibition Era roadhouse, the Antlers has been offering fine food for three-quarters of a century, developing into a place as memorable a part of Canyon Country as its forests, mountains and streams. Groups enjoy warm fireplaces and hospitality along with hot luncheon buffets, served or buffet dinners, Sunday brunches and cocktail lounge.

}  Beefeaters Restaurant, Bradford—Housed in a historic Carnegie Library from 1900, this restaurant offers grand ceilings and ornate embellishments plus carving booths in the upper level dining rooms and bar, while the lower level offers a cozy library setting for dining. The specialty of the house, beef, of course! 

Lamb's Creek

}  Log Cabin Inn, Ansonia—New owners have taken over this historic log cabin built in 1932 and are putting their stamp on the site which combines warm rustic surroundings with delicious specialties of the house to create wonderful dining experiences. Groups enjoy served luncheon and dinners in the main dining room and in the anglers-themed lounge area. Cocktail service available.

}  Penn Wells Restaurant, Wellsboro—Built in 1869, the Penn Wells Restaurant is a local landmark to visitors and area residents alike. Recent renovations have made the site a showpiece of late Victorian style and added to its reputation as a must-see when visiting Wellsboro. Step back in time in the Mary Wells Dining room offering breakfast, lunch and dinner selections along with Saturday night smorgasbords and bountiful Sunday brunches. Cocktail service available along with entertainment options.
